In-House Legal Counsel

The Direct General Law Department is searching for an experienced corporate attorney to be located at its Nashville headquarters. The ideal candidate will provide first class legal counsel involving corporate and transactional matters, such as, corporate finance, M&A, IT, vendor contracts and real estate; manage outside counsel; supervise a small, in-house legal support staff; and monitor and ensure insurance and other regulatory compliance enterprise-wide. The position involves significant interaction with senior management and reports directly to the General Counsel.

Job Qualifications

·       6 to 10+ years of general corporate law experience preferred (combination of in-house and law firm experience a plus)
·       Law degree with top academic and law firm and/or corporate credentials
·       Licensed in Tennessee (or willing to obtain Tennessee license)
·       Ability to analyze complex legal issues and determine practical, business goal oriented solutions
·       Hands-on experience within a state regulated industry
·       Experience with supervising legal support staff preferred
·       Proficient computer legal research and software applications skills
·       Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines with an insatiable desire to be part of a winning team
·       Excellent written and oral communication skills required
